Google Trends API: Trends timelines, regions and related searches as clean rows.

This Google Trends API returns the interest-over-time timeline, regional scores and the top and rising related searches and topics for any term, country and period, as structured rows you can load straight into a sheet, a database or a model. Compare up to five terms on one scale, filter by category and by Google property (web, news, images, shopping, YouTube), and pay only for the sections that come back.

What it returns

Timeline
Every time point Google returns for the period in one row per term, with partial-period flags.
Regions
Interest by country, region or city, scored 0 to 100 as Google shows it.
Related searches
The top and rising related queries and topics, with Breakout markers and their values.
Filters
Country, a date range or preset period, category, and search property (web, news, images, shopping, YouTube).
Verdict
A plain one-line summary first in every row, so a spreadsheet reads at a glance.

What teams use the Google Trends API for

01

Content and SEO planning

See which topics are rising before the keyword tools catch up, and where interest is concentrated.

02

Product and market research

Compare demand for products, brands or categories over time and across regions.

03

Forecasting inputs

Feed weekly interest series into demand, inventory or pricing models.

04

AI agents

Give an agent current search interest on request through the Apify API or Apify's MCP server.

Price

  • $0.0007 per delivered row ($0.70 per 1,000), the same on every Apify plan.
  • One term with its timeline, regions and related queries is three rows: $0.0021.
  • Missing sections, refused requests and retries are free. Apify adds a $0.00005 start charge per run.

You pay through your own Apify account, and you can cap any run with a maximum cost.

Call it from your code

Send the input as JSON and get the rows back in the same request, or start the run on a schedule from the Apify Console. Replace YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN with the API token from your Apify account settings.

cURL
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/zaiq~google-trends-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"searchTerms":["air fryer"],"country":"US"}'
Python
from apify_client import ApifyClient

client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("zaiq/google-trends-scraper").call(run_input={"searchTerms": ["air fryer"], "country": "US"})
for row in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(row)

The same Actor runs from JavaScript, Make, Zapier, n8n and AI agents through Apify's MCP server. The full input list is on its Apify Store page.

Google Trends API: questions

Does Google Trends have an official API?

Google's own Trends API has been in a limited alpha since July 2025, open only to testers Google approves. This one needs no approval, account or key: it reads the same public Google Trends data a browser sees and returns it as structured rows.

Why are the numbers 0 to 100 instead of search counts?

Google Trends reports relative interest, scaled so the busiest point in the comparison is 100. Use it to compare terms, periods and places. For monthly search counts, use our keyword research API.

Can I use it from Python instead of pytrends?

Yes. Call it with Apify's Python client (pip install apify-client) or the run-sync endpoint shown on this page, and you get JSON rows back instead of scraping Trends yourself.

What happens when Google refuses a request?

The Actor retries, and if a section still does not arrive you get a free note saying so. You pay only for rows that came back, and retries cost nothing.

Run the Google Trends API on Apify.

Open it on the Apify Store, paste your input and run it in the browser, or copy the call above into your own code. You pay per result, only for what comes back.
